As you age, a lot of things change, and you begin to realize a lot of life lessons. One of the most important things though is that you learn who the most important people in your life are. When you’re young, you think the people that matter most are the ones who you see every day at school, the friends who make you laugh during lunch and hate the same teacher as you. You believe that the people you need to hang on to are the people you talk to all the time, the ones you label with ‘best friends’.
Know that as you grow up, people move and people move on, and you fight to keep friends that are leaving you left and right. People change, people act different. Sometimes, you’ll find yourself beat up, alone and at a loss for companionship. And that’s when you realize who actually matters. The most important people are the ones that know your life story. The ones who know exactly what is going on in your life, not because you tell them, but because they know exactly how to interpret how you are acting and see what you are hiding.
The greatest friends are the ones who you may only see a few times a year, but when you do see them, you stay up late doing things you’ve never done before and talking about everything that has happened. And there comes a point where you realize that the only friends that you should fight for, the only people that you should chase after if they walk out of your life are the ones that would never leave you in the first place. Those are the people that should be important to you, not all the fake people you deal with day to day. <3
Getting attached will fuck you over.
